Riot Games // LGBTQ+ Representation
As Riot’s global social lead, I was proud to collaborate with the Rainbow Rioters, an identity group that amplified the voices and stories of Riot’s LGBTQ+ employees. During my time in the Riot social lead role, we began an annual tradition of celebrating Pride, with in-game features, IRL events, and content that celebrated the personal stories of Rainbow Rioters and LGBTQ+ characters across Riot’s IP. By my final year in this role, we’d created a cross-functional collaborative team that allowed us to share representation and acceptance across Riot’s social channels, as well as regional esports broadcasts and in-game content.
In addition to our owned channels, Riot partnered with It Gets Better, an LA-based non-profit with the mission of uplifting, empowering, and connecting LBGTQ+ youth around the globe.
It Gets Better partnership
In 2018 and 2019, I led the production of Riot’s It Gets Better partnership videos for National Coming Out Day. I worked closely with our brand partners at It Gets Better, an in-house creative team, and the Rainbow Rioters organization to develop this content from ideation to execution, identifying Rioters who wanted to share their own coming out stories and messages of empowerment.
Riot Games @ LA Pride
In 2018, I worked with a team of in-house creatives to capture event footage and create social content covering Riot’s very first visit to Pride.
Pride and IDAHOTB In-Game Content
In 2018 - 2020, I worked closely with the Rainbow Rioters and League of Legends game publishing team to create a social campaign and relevant content that let players know about opportunities to celebrate their identity in League and on social channels.
As a brand manager on VALORANT, I worked closely with the game development and premium content teams, as well as the Rainbow Rioters, to develop in-game items that let players show their rainbow flair, including player cards and titles. In addition to collaborating on the items themselves, I worked closely with VAL’s social and community teams to lead an awareness campaign encouraging players to equip the newly available items.
